Treatment at Center for Hope of the Sierras
At the Center for Hope of the Sierras, we help patients to redefine their lives by finding meaning based on their unique gifts, interests, and talents, separate from their body and their eating disorder.

To accomplish this, the Center offers a multitude of individual, family, and group therapies designed to promote healing. These include Art Therapy, Horticulture, Meditative Walking, Meditation, Yoga, Yogarate, and Massage and Facials, encouraging self-care, self-respect, and an appreciation for the role of a gentle and mindful lifestyle.
We have a registered dietitian and a chef who works with each individual to plan meals and do shopping once a week. Once a patient achieves an appropriate level of health, they are invited to help prepare meals to work towards overcoming obsessive thoughts or compulsive behavior associated with the disease. Restaurant outings are also a part of the program, helping patients learn to function in a society where "forbidden foods" are prolific.
Our recreational activities and outings include trips to Lake Tahoe and the surrounding Sierras for hiking and other outdoor activities that bring patients in touch with nature and their inner selves.
Unique to the Center for Hope of the Sierras is our Community Connections Program. This program provides the opportunity for patients to find meaning in their lives outside of body preoccupation, and allows an important opportunity for them to experience their competence and ability to have an impact, all directed toward helping the patient redefine their own life.
Treatment for Life

It is believed that individuals who suffer from eating disorders are challenged in their capacity to find their own sense of validation, vitalization, and positive self-regard, and have difficulty regulating their self-esteem and coping with anxiety.
Our philosophy is that it is the patient's right to have a self; therefore, treatment emphasizes the need for patients to cope with the complex emotions that cause them to doubt this right, as well as the need for patients to take themselves and their physical and psychological needs seriously, leading them to experience themselves as valid and competent human beings.
Population Served
At the Center for Hope of the Sierras, we treat adolescent (16 and above) and adult females.
Information Regarding Cost of Treatment
The costs of the residential program are all-inclusive; however, patients will be responsible for additional costs for a specialist or for any emergency care, and additional laboratory tests or medication.
Routine appointments with the physician (internist) are included in the cost of treatment. Additional visits may require an additional fee.
Our recommended minimum length of stay is 45 days, however this may be extended based upon each person's individual clinical situation. Program costs are based on a standard daily rate with additional fees for extenuating medical and lab fees. Many insurance carriers offer reimbursement for residential treatment. We will assist in verifying coverage for you. To reserve a slot in the program, we require a deposit of $2,500.00 which will be applied toward the cost of treatment. If a medical condition precludes you from entry into our program we will promptly refund you the entire $2,500.00.
Costs of transitional programming may vary depending upon the needs of the patient; for additional questions regarding transitional programming please call us at the Center - 866.690.7242.
All treatment is payable by credit card (we accept, Visa, MasterCard and American Express) personal check, bank check, or bank wire. If your insurance company is able to provide for your care, we will make every effort to work with your provider to receive payment directly from them. However, we do require that the insurance company provide a commitment in writing which confirms that they will cover the cost of your treatment. It is the responsibility of the client to attain this commitment from the insurance company; our insurance coordinator will do her best to assist you.
We aim to be flexible and helpful. As you make plans to receive treatment please do not hesitate to contact us with any questions, ideas, or suggestions regarding your care.
