At Center for Hope of the Sierras, we are proud of our steadfast dedication to providing the most comprehensive, clinically excellent, evidence-based treatment available today. Our philosophy is based upon the belief that it is an individual’s right to define a sense of self, and we strive to help all of those who are entrusted into our care to do exactly that.
Residential Treatment at Center for Hope
Our treatment emphasizes individuals’ needs to cope with the complex emotions that have caused them to doubt their right to define themselves. We strongly believe that in order for individuals to truly recover from an eating disorder, they must develop a sense of their own spirit and self, as well as a belief that their emotions are valid, important, and full of worth and meaning. It is for these reasons that we have developed programming to emphasize the importance of taking care of one’s psychological and physical needs, so that individuals can begin to experience themselves as the valid and competent human beings that they are. We believe that those who are struggling with eating disorders are caring, sensitive, creative, and unique people who may struggle to find a connection with their true inner spirit. We want to help them find that connection.
The residential program at Center for Hope of the Sierras offers intimate, intensive, and individualized treatment that marries the comfort of a home-like setting with exceptional clinical care. We provide treatment to males and females ages 16 and above, offering services that are tailored to meet the unique needs of all who heal with us. We recognize that each client who walks through our door is unique and that no two individuals share the same path to recovery. For this reason, the treatment we provide is highly individualized and specially catered to meet the specific needs of each client.

Our Treatment Therapies
Within our residential programming, the following elements are implemented into each person’s individualized treatment plan:
Medication management: When individuals come to Center for Hope battling co-occurring mental health conditions in addition to an eating disorder, certain psychotropic medications may be prescribed in order to help treat their symptoms. If this has been deemed as an appropriate intervention for a client, he or she will meet with our psychiatrist at least once per week.
Individual therapy: Individual therapy provides clients with a confidential space to meet one-to-one with their primary therapist.
Family therapy: When indicated as being helpful and appropriate for a client’s recovery, family therapy sessions will be incorporated into his or her plan of care.
Group therapy: Clients in the residential program at Center for Hope engage in group therapy sessions Monday through Friday, typically attending two to three sessions each day.
Experiential therapy: In order to promote a holistic approach to treatment, incorporating the care of one’s mind, body, and spirit, experiential therapies are included into our clients’ treatment plans. Examples of the various types of experiential therapies may include, but are not limited to, creative expressions, music appreciation, massage, reiki, yoga, cooking classes, grocery shopping trips, and lunch out challenges.
Specialized Treatment for Men & Women
As part of our goal to offer the most innovative care available today, Center for Hope is one of a very limited number of treatment centers in the nation that provides specialized care for men and women who are battling diabulimia, or a combination of Type 1 diabetes and a co-occurring eating disorder. This disorder is characterized by the deliberate under-use of insulin in an attempt to prevent oneself from gaining weight. Because diabulimia is a relatively recently recognized disorder, many are not aware of the devastating effects that this condition can inflict on the lives of those suffering from it. For this reason, Center or Hope is pleased to be able to provide comprehensive therapeutic interventions that can help these individuals return to a life of health and vitality.
Our Treatment Philosophies
One of the most important tenets of treatment at Center for Hope is our focus on the philosophy of intuitive eating. This mindful approach to nutrition is designed to help clients learn to embrace the positive aspects of food, helping them to overcome the mentality of dieting, learning how food helps to fuel their bodies, and gaining an appreciation for how adhering to appropriate nutrition not only helps them achieve optimal health, but also helps them develop an appreciation for the importance of honoring their bodies.
At Center for Hope of the Sierras, we have a proven track record of offering effective, connected treatment for those who are struggling with eating disorders, body image issues, and co-occurring concerns, regardless of one’s gender or one’s stage in life. We thrive on providing compassionate, individualized care for men, women, and adolescents who are in need of the life-changing treatment that can introduce them to a happier, healthier, and brighter future; the future they deserve.
